This is a view of the ceiling above the habitat area at the original entrance to Gallery B in the cave La Pasiega. The photograph shows a whole figure of a horse facing right, and the extraordinarily long branching antlers of a giant deer facing the horse. Gallery B is located next to the original entrance to the cave. Archeological digs carried out here have found evidence of occupation in the Solutrean period and possibly in the early Magdalenian. The walls and ceiling of this chamber, originally lit by natural light, have several animal figures in red; a horse, a cervid interpreted as a giant deer, and other poorly conserved paintings can be seen here. The same walls have numerous small engravings of animals that are not visible in this photograph.
